MIUI 10 Features :

MIUI-10 brings new emoji, revamped notifications and ‘notification dots’, new setting menu, better battery life, and more. Xiaomi VP says that the next version of MIUI will be the unfinished business of MIUI 9, which is smart voice assistant.

1. Redesigned Notification toggles

Xiaomi always tries to modify the Notification toggles based on latest Android operating system. Inspired from Android P UI, the Chinese smartphone giant has revamped the Quick Settings and Notifications toggles. Unfortunately, the MIUI China ROM does not include New Notification Shade as it still has painful two finger swipe gesture to expand notifications. Nevertheless, it supports quick reply directly from notifications.

2. Full-Screen Gestures

Xiaomi brought its first full-screen gesture through MIUI 9.5 update and now, the MIUI 10 brings few others. Users can now swipe from left or right and hold for couple of seconds to switch to previous app they were using, this is similar to quick switch feature from stock Android.

3. Xiao AI

In competition with Siri and Google Assistant, Xiaomi has developed its own virtual assistance called “Xiao AI”. Currently, Xiao AI is available only for Chinese ROM while there is less possibility Xiaomi bringing it to Global ROM users.

4. AI Preload

As the name suggests, artificial intelligence will be used to improve performance by analyzing app usage of user and preload the apps according to it. The company says this feature would reduce app loading times up to zero in some cases.

5. New Recent Apps Menu/Task Manager
Users need to scroll apps vertically to view all the recently accessed apps unlike MIUI 9 where the users need to scroll horizontally. The two-column layout allows you to access at least 4 different recent apps.

6. Car/Drive Mode
Xiaomi has introduce a special mode called Drive Mode which lets you operate the device through voice commands. With this feature, one can change the route on maps, reply to instant messages, and answer incoming calls too without touching your Xiaomi phone.

7. Single Bokeh Camera Mode for Older phones [Portrait Mode]
Xiaomi has introduced ‘Portrait Mode’ for several older devices including the Mi 5 and Mi Mix 2 which comes with a single rear camera. In MIUI 10, the camera software makes use of the latest algorithms (AI) to differentiate between the subject and background, thus creating a bokeh effect.

8. Inbuilt support for Mi Home devices

Mi Ecosystem devices can be directly controlled by users as the inbuilt support eliminates the need for a secondary app.
